Oh, Kalyn, NO problem. Thanks for adding it though! I've been reading your tweets this past week and rooting for you and your dad. I really hope everything goes as well as possible.

I am so sorry! I had this post saved to include when I wrote about fava beans at BlogHer this weekend. Between the time I saved it, we moved my elderly father to an assisted living center, amidst much family strife, and somehow I missed it when I wrote the post. I just realized my mistake and added it just now. My sincere apologies.

Carolyn -
You are always featuring my favorite foods - I am CRAZY about favas! Here is a simple pasta dish I used to make when I lived around the corner from Alice W's restaurant - prepared favas ( parboiled, skin taken off) mixed with chopped tomato, fresh minced garlic, high quality olive oil, herb salt, pepper, a little cayenne - and left to sit while you cook a short pasta ( say penne) - mix and add a squeeze or two of lemon and parmesan reggiano - simple- but delicious - I would eat that dish every day if I could.

One of the most memorable dishes of my life was at chez panisse - fresh shell beans in a demi glace served on the side of grilled fresh porcini mushrooms - also worth eating every day for a life time.

thanks for featuring the amazing fava !
